CONTEMPORARY ISSUES OF FINANCIAL SERVICES ACCESS IN THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA



Scientific and Educational group was formed under the competition at Armenian State University of Economics for the purpose of research grant project "Contemporary Issues of Financial Services Access in the Republic of Armenia." The Group’s main feature is the engagement of three foreign Master students who are trained in ASUE under the intergovernmental agreement concluded between the Republic of Armenia and the Syrian Arab Republic. The Group plans to submit the research outcomes in three languages.



PROJECT SUMMARY: MISSION, OBJECTIVES AND TASKS

Financial services access is an important indicator of the financial and banking system, which reflects the institutional priorities of access, opportunities for effective placement of commercial banks branch network. Financial services access is a key element for poverty reduction, an important goal of implicit economic development. Financial services true data is important in terms of macroeconomic improvement of financial policy. Expanding access to financial services is impossible without effective use of public instruments of monetary policy. Financial services access research is relevant not only for developed countries but also in developing countries, taking into account the positive effects for the economy and society. The problem is relevant for the Republic of Armenia in connection with the modern trends of financial and banking system development and dynamics of commercial banks’ branch network expansion. 

Group’s Mission is the evaluation and analysis of theoretical and methodological, practical foundations of financial services access and improvement of commercial banks branch network efficiency.
